Yalda arrived in Knoxville in 2022 with her husband and son, ready to start over.

In Afghanistan, she was a lawyer. In the U.S., she knew one thing: to rebuild her career, she needed English.
At the Center for English, Yalda began learning the language that would open new doors. Step by step, she gained confidence, not just for herself, but for her family.
Her son, who is deaf, once required interpreters for every medical appointment. Today, Yalda advocates for him in English.

In-Kind donations
We prefer In-Kind donations to be taken to KARM in the name of the Center for English. ​​In return, KARM will send gift cards to the Center for English that our students can use for winter coats and other specific needs.
